Basmati Rice
Origin: India
Basmati rice is a unique strain of rice with is originally from India. And just like normal staple brands of rice you get at the grocery store, there are two types- white and brown.
Its distinctive nutty flavour and unique floral aroma is similar to that of jasmine rice, which is commonly used in Southeast Asian cooking.
The word “basmati” actually comes from the Hindu words “bas” and “mati,” which translates to “aromatic.”
